A few useful things.
Is it free?
Townfolio is free to play during beta. The game is still being improved.
Do I need an account?
You can try solo as a guest. Hosting a friends game requires a saved account. Invited friends can join as guests with a name. Link your guest account to keep access across devices or after clearing browser data.
Can I play on my own?
Yes. Play against 1–3 CPU opponents, or share one device with other people. Private online games support 2–4 total players, including CPUs.
What do I need to play?
An internet connection and a modern browser with WebGL2 for the globe. The game is in English. Phone and tablet compatibility is still being tested; a larger screen gives you more room for the map.
How long does a game take?
You choose the journey length. Duration depends on your group and settings; we are still measuring typical play times.
Can I come back later?
Hosted games save online. Return to your room to continue. Guests need to keep their browser session or link their account. CPU games pause when nobody has the room open.
Are these real investments?
No. Cities and local inspiration are real, but businesses, prices, income and Folio credits are part of the game.
